Isabelle has life right where she wants it after recovering from heartbreak and deceit—the perfect apartment, amazing friends, a flourishing career…
Until she meets Death's right-hand man one fateful night, and she is sent spiraling into a life which is beyond her wildest imaginings.
She’s thrust quickly into the most secretive inner-workings of Death itself.
She yearns for the unmistakable simplicity of her old life; this one is full of dangers, unanswered questions, cryptic dreams...and an ever-growing attraction for her Guardian.
And whispers, haunting whispers in her mind that send shivers through her…but in the most agreeable way. Whose voice is it that makes her swoon? Where is it that she goes in her dreams?
After one particularly anomalous dream in which she learns of the Nine While Nine Legacy, things get truly precarious.
Now someone sees her as a risk …and wants to eliminate her.
Fortunately, she falls under the protection of Gideon—unless she leaves his territory—which is the one thing she wants the most…and wants the least.

At first I thought someone had slipped a dose of acid into my Aviation cocktail. There was this weird,
trippy, muddy-headed dizziness, a warping in my mind that made me close my eyes tightly against it and
when I opened them, I was seated on the huge area rug that Giselle had helped me to drag up from my
apartment to the roof, just for the party. It was only my second drink, so there was no way I was
anywhere near drunk and we hadn't opened the Absinthe yet, so I couldn't exactly blame it on that
either. So what else could it have been?
"Asshole!" I stood up and yelled across the roof of my three story building. Not my usual language, but
really, who drugs you at your own birthday party? "Who slipped me the acid?"
Wow this book was amazing. It was exactly what I needed to get out of my book slump. I am a huge fan of paranormal books but very rarely find books in that genre that really stand out. From the very start this book stands out and completely captures your attention. Once I cracked the pages I could not put it down. The writing is fantastic and the storyline is amazing and original. This book does not read like it is written by a new author. The story is complicated and complex and reads as though written by a seasoned author. Some of the terminology can get a bit confusing at times, but the author provides us with a glossary and pronunciation guide in the back of the book to help you along.
The descriptions and imagery the author provides are beautiful and make you feel like you are really there seeing everything. The dream sequences are a perfect example of beautiful writing and fantastic story telling.
The characters are amazing as well. Isabelle is just getting her life back on track when the unexpected happens and she finds herself completely lost and confused. There is so much she doesn't understand and only has Liam and Gideon to rely on. The problem is they don't seem exactly sure what is going on either. There is so much more I want to know about Gideon and role he will play in this amazing adventure. He comes across as dark and broody but there is so much more to his character. So much mystery in this book and you just know that this is going to be an epic story. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. I am hooked and Stasia Morineaux you have a new fan. This is a must read for all my fellow paranormal, fantasy fans.

Stasia Morineaux grew up in Southern California, pursuing faeries in the garden and seeking spirits in the local graveyard with her cat Bartleby. The duo also spent countless nights hunting down things that went bump!
She resettled recently in not-too-far-north-of-Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, daughter, and their bevy of creatures…both real and “imaginary”.
Mysterious dreams, copious hours of awesome music, and obscene amounts of coffee fuel her writing sessions.
Stasia writes paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and dark fantasy, as well as supernatural chick lit.
In her spare time she likes to relax on her balcony, feet kicked up, listening to the squirrels arguing with the crows in the trees.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My characters! They are very busy during the night and I can't wait to get downstairs in the morning,
snuggle into my corner of the couch with a steaming mug of coffee, and get to writing down what
they've been up to!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love reading and watching movies! I also spend time with my little girl and hubby, taking walks, playing
games, browsing book stores, going to theme parks…whatever suits our fancy at the time.
And research! I'm always perusing the web!
How do you discover the eBooks you read?
Sometimes I just stumble upon them while online and sometimes they are recommended by friends.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes! It was a Christmas story about a family of bears...I was in third grade. By fifth grade I had veered
more into the Fantasy/Paranormal Romance genre!
What is your writing process?
I don't really have much of a process...
Most of my inspiration comes from the wild and crazy adventurous dreams that I have. So, most
mornings—after my cat, Nicodaumus, is done making biscuits on my stomach—I head downstairs, grab
some coffee and toast, and pull out whatever is already written. I skim what I wrote the day before then
take the plunge and continue on.
My den is littered with post-its...I'm a big fan of sticky little pieces of paper that can hold my thoughts.
I don't begin with an outline, but generally I tend to get stuck halfway through and making a plot outline
saves it.
I've just discovered some writing software that does all kinds of amazing things with outlines and
continuity...I'm going to employ it for the sequel to No Time to Cry. Looks like it will be a lot of fun to
use!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I've been reading since I was three, a gazillion Little Golden Books!
But as a teen, the first book that sticks out immensely is The Shining by Stephen King! On one hand
because of how it is written, the content, and how terrifying the entire thing was (I still get shivers
thinking about it) AND on the other hand because it forged a long friendship between me and a boy in
my English class...he was soooo dreamy!
The next ones that have influenced me the most are Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist, They Thirst by
Robert McCammon, and Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.
How do you approach cover design?
I'm extremely visual and I really need the cover to elicit feelings and draw the prospective reader in,
make them need to know what is happening in the book, and also convey what the book makes me feel
as I'm reading it. I want my covers to hint at what lies inside on the pages. I want my readers to not just
read the words, but I want them to feel and see what is happening.
The colors used within the artwork, warm or cool tones, harsh or soft lighting, sharp or muted edges...
it's all incredibly important. The font is important as well.
It all creates a whole that hopefully captivates a reader long enough to lure them into opening the book
and reading the words, makes them want to become a part of the story.
I have an extremely talented artist/designer that knows me very well and knows what I need.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Oh Holy Crow, just five? That's hard! The Shining, They Thirst, Cat Magic, The Vampire Chronicles, and
Harry Potter. (And Faerie Tale!)
Why?
They made me feel on such a deep level, whether it was intense fear, longing, love, happiness, sadness,
joy, elation, excitement, terror. etc... and they were so well written that I felt as though I were within
the pages living with the characters.
And I didn't want any of them to ever end!
What do you read for pleasure?
Fiction...of all kinds! Dark Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Chick-Lit, Contemporary Romance, Paranormal
Romance, Horror, even some YA!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle...but it's the first model and I really need to upgrade!
Describe your desk
Which one?
My "desk" moves around...I have the dining room table, the settee in the den, my bed, the living room
sofa, the table on the front gallery, and my chair on the balcony. I'm quite mobile, but my bevy of sticky-
notes follow me everywhere...sometimes trailing behind me on the floor!
I have folders and writing tablets in a stack, my cup of pens, my laptap, my flash drive, and the ever-
present cup of coffee, all cradled precariously in my arms as I move from room to room trying to figure
out which holds the right mojo for the moment!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Fear of rejection!
Really though, after so many years of dabbling around with writing and never finishing anything because
of possible rejection, possible massive changes to my story, or possibly never seeing my stories in
print...I jumped on the band wagon. And now it's here! It's the best feeling in the world to hold my book
in my hand! I can't wait to get the next one out there!
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on Book Two of the Nine While Nine Legacy!
Who are your favorite authors?
Anne Rice, Raymond Feist, J.K. Rowling, Alys Arden, Becket, Stephen King, Alex Rosa, Sarah M. Cradit,
Neil Gaiman, Greg Wilkey, K.L. Bone, Robert McCammon, Tate Hallaway....the list is endless!
