Burning Ember (Harbingers Of Chaos, #1) by Darby Briar
The last thing she needs after running from one monster is to land in the lair of the Devil.
Twenty-one year old Ember flees her past with soot on her face, ash in her hair, and a promise. She’ll never let another man take away her freedom and treat her like she means nothing.
But that is exactly what Maverick Gunn, leader of the notorious Harbinger’s of Chaos Motorcycle Club seeks to do from the moment his lethal gaze locks on her. He burns her with every look. Every touch. Every word.
Ember’s only hope is to convince him she’s nothing like the woman who blackened his soul before he drags her down into the darkness with him.
Manda's 5 Star Review
This is one of the best books I have read this year. From start to finish I was caught in the story and could not put it down. The characters are are amazing and so in depth and the storyline is a little bit different and refreshing. The progression and development of the story keep you completely invested and interested. Both Ember and Maverick have ghosts that haunt their pasts and keep them from moving forward and Darby Briar does a fantastic job bringing this to life on the page. I absolutely cannot wait to read more of this series. The writing is fantastic and it definitely left me wanting more. Congrats to the author on a really amazing must read book!!
Mag's 5 Star Review
Where do I even begin with this review? This book was one of the best books I have read in a very long time! The writing, the plot, the characters! Darby took my book slump and crushed it. I fell so unbelievably hard for these characters, that I was actually heart broken when it ended.
"Without permission, he's seared himself onto my heart. Lit a fire so deep inside me, I don't know if it'll ever burn out."
Burning Ember had some of the best writing and plot I have seen in a while. The story line was very refreshing and was a great take on the MC world. The emotions I felt while reading this book won't leave me for a long while. I laughed, cried, felt desire, cried while laughing, felt my heart crack, and slowly felt it get put back together. The characters were well developed and I loved them both!
"He's an enigma. The most beautiful man I've ever seen- and yet he's the biggest, unapologetic a**hole I've ever met."
Maverick, for me, is the ultimate male character. He is fierce, loving, hard on the edges, alpha, and so much more. He has demons he is battling and those demons shaped him into the person he is. He is blunt to the point and theres something to be said for a person like that.
"I love her fight. I love her sassy mouth. I love that she's not going to make this easy on me. I want to chase her. It'll make possessing her and claiming her that much more of an achievement."
Ember has a very haunted past. A past she is running from only to find herself in the arms of a man she can't seem to stay away from. Their connection was so beautiful and epic. Ember has an inner strength most of us either don't know we posses or don't posses. When things got hard for her she triumphed and pushed past them.
This book is one I would strongly recommend to just about everyone! I couldn't believe this was the writing of a debut author and I am so excited to read more from her!
