Cherry needed to escape her past, needed a new start and she found her chance when convinced Ace to take her with him. The plan was for her to come home with Ace and help him take care of his family and to stay clean. Cherry knows Ace will never feel about her the same way she feels about him, but she keeps hoping that the more time they spend together he will start to see her in a new light.
Ace took a chance on love and came away burned. Forced to leave the only girl he has ever loved back in Ohio with the man and the life she chose over him, has taken its toll. Ace wants nothing more than to take care of his family and move on. He brings Cherry with him to help him and hopefully help her start over. The more time they spend together the deeper their friendship grows but the past comes back to haunt them both and threatens to tear apart all the progress they have made.
This is the first book I have read by this author and after finishing it I wanted to go back and read her other series. I could not put this book down. It pulled me in and I knew it was going to be one I had to finish in one go. The characters are complex and at times their story can be difficult to read. Both Cherry and Ace are dealing with ghosts from their pasts and must find away to put those ghosts to rest in order to move on. This was an excellent start to this series and I cannot wait to read the next book. Definitely a must read.
Mag's 3 Star Review:
I have never read anything by A.C. Bexter, but I have a feeling she will be an author I read from here on out! She created a world I didn't want to leave and characters I needed to know more about. Although this book is a standalone, I suggest reading her other series prior to really get a better understanding of the characters.
Cherry's love of Ace is deep and never ending. She has endured the rejection and the "friend zone" for long enough to be comfortable there. But after her life falls apart, Cherry finds herself on the back of Ace's bike heading across the country to start a new life. Ace's one true love, or so he thought, didn't want him. Scratch that she didn't love him or want him, which gutted him and in turn ruined his chances with his brothers. After leaving with Cherry to go back to his previous life in California, Ace finds himself being drawn more and more to the lively, beautiful, and charming Cherry.
When puzzel pieces finally fall into place and things being to look up, Cherry's awful past comes back to haunt them. It is up to Ace to overcome his own demon's and fight for his true soul mate.
I would recommend reading this book, but would strongly recommend reading the previous series prior. You don't need to, as the synopsis says, but it will help you understand the character dynamics a lot more.
