They surround me. Hold me hostage, refusing to let go.
But I want to survive. Want to fight. I just don’t know if I have it in me.
Maybe dying would be better.
It’s the break in the shadows that gives me hope.
When I look at him, all I can see is light.
So now I’m out to find freedom.
Private investigator Ryan Warden doesn’t know he’s moved next door to people he would put behind bars in an instant. Nor does he realise a sleepless night could lead him on the right track with the case he’s working on.
He certainly doesn’t expect Emerson Spence.
What he does know is he has to stay away from her. She’s been beaten and broken. She deserves to live freely while learning and experiencing things in life like any young woman should.
He’s too old for her. It’s better to stay away.
If he can.
Now, Lila lives with her husband and two children.
She started writing in 2013 and self-published the first of the Hawks MC: Ballarat Charter series- Holding Out. Since then, she has published eleven other titles, which range from erotica, humorous romance, YA and paranormal.
Wow wow wow. What an emotional read. I did not know what I was getting when I started this book, but it was so much more than I could have imagined. I have loved Warden since he first made an appearance back in the beginning. He is such a strong character and has such a good heart. I was beyond excited to find out he was getting his own story. He needs every bit of strength and heart he has to help Emerson. She has been through so much trauma and experienced so much evil. It is amazing how much strength she has to keep moving. This is definitely a cant put down kind of book. Lila Rose is a fantastic author and one of my very favorites. I re-read her books frequently and find I love them just as much as I did the first time. I always look forward to reading her books.
