Former soldier Logan Bridges never imagined he would go from serving his country to helping raise a house full of children after a devastating family loss.
Dealing with his rowdy siblings and cousins proves to be almost as treacherous as the battlefields he left behind. And though heâs committed to making it work, he soon finds heâs in over his head.
Until someone from Loganâs past, steps in to help.
Mollie has always been independent, but finds herself growing attached to the family, including Logan, and discovering thereâs more to life than working and solitude.
Logan and Mollie quickly form a strong bond, and when attraction brings them closer, they agree getting involved wouldnât be good for the children. But when they both struggle to keep the blurry line of friendship between them, Mollie wonât take that step unless Logan can open up and face his painful past.

Excerpt
I quickly check my messages and when I look up, a guy is standing next to Mollie, talking to her.
I see her smile at him and it doesnât look any different than the one she shows me, which kind of pisses me off. Iâd expected one of those plastered polite deals that uninterested women give men until they leave.
As I sidle up right behind the two, she laughs, and my heart is strangled when her wannabe dimple appears. Thatâs my fucking dimple. I donât say anything, waiting for them to acknowledge me.
âYou need something, buddy?â the guy says, looking me straight in the eye. His face says annoyed, as if heâd invested the night instead of arriving literally seconds ago.
âNot a thingâ¦except maybe for you to go find a seat somewhere. Youâre blocking my chair.â
He ignores my words and dips his head in Mollieâs direction. âHe your boyfriend?â
âNo,â she tells him.
That blows me out of the water. Of course, Iâm not her boyfriend, but telling him straight up ânoâ wounds me.
âMaybe I could get your number,â he tells her.
Am I not standing right freaking here?
I laugh. Out loud, because no matter what, itâs ridiculous that sheâd give a guy her number when she came with me. Isnât it?
âHey, man. Weâre trying to have a conversation here.â
I can hear him, but Iâm no longer looking at him. My eyes are burning a hole into the side of Mollieâs head, waiting for her to set him straight. Then I see the slow twist of her body, her eyes flicking my way, and the easy grin take over her mouth. Either sheâs really enjoying my pain, or sheâs getting off stringing this guy along. Either way, Iâm relieved that smile is not for this jackass.
âShe just said you werenât her boyfriend,â the guy reiterates.
I already feel like a first-class idiot, but my next words will boost me into champion status. âYeah, well, Iâm herâ¦somebody. So, you can leave now.â
He scoffs. âWhat the hell is a somebody?â
âItâs the person who makes sure you donât do stupid shit like giving your number to a douche at a bar.â
He looks at Mollie as if sheâs going to correct me. She shrugs with a head tilt but her face clearly gives him confirmation. When he turns his attention back to me, she covers her mouth to hold back a laugh.
âScrew both of you.â He takes a step back and lifts his drink. âSheâs not hot enough for me to kick your ass.â
