Blurb
Resolute. Firm. Unwavering
That was my love for him.
Steadfast for as long as I can remember.
As my best friend's brother, he ignored me before noticing me. He protected me, bought me my first beer, but eventually became my undoing.
There was a time I would have died to get him to notice me, now I'd do anything to forget him.
I'm not the one who can tame him, and he's not the guy who will change for me.
This isn't a story about falling in love, this is a story about falling out of love.
Unrequited love.
And finding the strength to move on.
Here's to the steadfast.
*This is a standalone story that crosses years from YA into NA genre, due to heavy subject matter this book is for ages 16 and up. This is not your typical love story.*
Let me first off start by saying I truly enjoyed this book. I got lost in it and had a massive love hate relationship with Mischa. He pissed me off and then melted my heart. I enjoyed Cody and her personality is really what sealed the deal for me. The book had great supporting characters and a plot that just screamed to me! I loved seeing Cody grow and change right before my eyes, and I completely understood her.
Where I get lost is the ending. The author states this is a stand a lone book and that is fine, but to me I have a hard time dealing with the ending, or should I say the lack of an ending. I love books that make you scratch your head and relive them for days, but this book just upset me at the ending. It may just be me that didn't like the ending (book snob) and thats the beauty about books. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. Thats what makes this world so possible!
Manda's 3 Star Review:
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I am not the kind of reader that needs a HEA, in fact I love books that don't end in the typical boy gets girl way. I was completely with this book up until the end. The storyline is different and unique and has good story progression. The characters are really good. They are all complicated and a bit mysterious. You know there is more going on with them but the author doesn't say exactly what that is. I was so caught up in the story while reading and experiencing all the things Cody is going through with this complicated first love. I absolutely loved it! Then we get to the end and I must admit I am terribly lost. This is advertised as a stand alone but to me it just ended abruptly with no real conclusion for the characters. As I stated before I didn't want or expect a HEA but I was kind of expecting some sort of conclusion for the characters. It seems all of the main characters have a kind of open ended story. I have so many questions as to what actually happened to one of the characters. I was so into this story right up until the end and then it lost me. This book to me is a more realistic version of unrequited first love than most I have read and I really think the author did a fantastic job in telling the story, but I just can't get past the abrupt end that left me with more questions than answers.I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future and hopefully getting some of my questions answered because I really did enjoy the story up until the end.
